Srilanka Tea Gardens

Srilanka the tropical paradise located in south Asia is one of the leading exporters of tea in the world. Synonymous with aroma and quality, the Srilanka
tea is considered to be best in the world, which has a huge market demand and the graph moving upwards with the every passing year.

Well Srilanka have various tea gardens from where the world best tea leaves are plucked and are processed through various techniques and are made ready for the market. 

But that is the another big story of the success of Srilanka tea but the main part of the Srilanka making a the tea producing country goes long back during the time of the British era, who brought the tea plants from China, Assam and Kolkata to plant in Srilanka. With the time, today the country has become the 3 highest producer of tea in the world, exporting the share of 19% of the total global demand. 

Srilanka tea gardens are largely accumulated in the central highlands and the cultivation areas where largely tea gardens are located include Galle, Matara, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya in Central Province and Dambulla. The tea gardens of these regions are well known for producing the best aromatic tea leaves as the climatic conditions are very much favourable for tea producing.

Nuwara Eliya in Central Province 
Nuwara Eliya is one of the major areas from where most of the Srilanka’s teas are produced. Since the time British started plantation of tea in this country, Nuwara Eliya has been the capital of the tea industry. While you drive to reach Nuwara Eliya you will find sprawling tea gardens spread over acres and acres of land well organised with emerald green tea bushes. 

Beside this famous tea producing centre, Kandy, Galle, Matara are also very popular centre for tea production in Srilanka. These places have good number of tea gardens and more of all due to the favourable climatic conditions, these regions helps in making Srilanka the world 4th highest tea producing country in the world.
